Is there any adapter, option, gadget, add-on, that can be plugged into a whatever port (USB, SATA, SD...) and use the laptop microphone, speaker, dialpad... as a telephone with a SIM card from a service provider ?

Maybe the USB route. Otherwise, there may be quite a bit of finicky SMD soldering involved!

 

FWIW, a MacBook can receive and make phone calls as long as an iPhone is nearby (on the same wifi). Some carriers allow non-phone devices to make and receive calls over wifi even without a phone on the network. I have T-Mobile and I think I can do that but I haven't specifically tested it.

Bought a laptop today, and has a slot for a SIM ! Reading its operation manual, trying to understand what it is for. Something related to WWAN ? perhaps, but will need a new brain to figure it out. Am not good at these things...
