I was wondering is there any company that builds a hardware you designed. By hardware I am referring to your own embedded system (board) design or you own circuit design. So for example I design an embedded system on paper then I let the company build the circuit. My design has all the components like resistors, capacitors, and processors. The company just solders them on a board. I am looking for companies that serve hobbyists, not companies that only build circuits for other companies.

Thanks

Working for a small development company myself I can tell you that many small companies will help you if you're willing to pay. I've worked on several projects that were funded by an individual who had an idea. When you say you design the system on paper and let the company build the curcuit; do you mean you are creating the schematic, or you just have an idea and you want someone else to develop the circuit for you?

If you design the PCB, (not just the the idea or the schematic,) there are places that do small quantity assembly/production.

I seem to remember that Advanced Circuits (4pcb) offers this service in addition to just making PCBs, though I've never worked with them.

ALLPCB definitely does small quantities - I've got an order being built right now. 10 boards at $40/piece, including PCBs, components, assembly, and shipping, with about 3 weeks total turnaround time, including shipping. It's pretty incredible really. I'll definitely be posting an update when the parts come in to see how quality holds up.

The only other small runs I've worked on were at about 5 times the price (USA vs China) and are probably unacceptably expensive for hobby applications.

Yes.. there are numerous companies that can take your designs and give you a finished product for a price of course..
Here are just a few..
In general they are called "Contract Manufacturers" and they build to your designs and can source all the needed parts..

These are all Asian companies that may have lower costs aimed at hobby level products but there are typically companies in most countries that will do "PCBA services".. pricing can vary wildly..
