Generator and motor problem. .

I have a 9735 W generator that runs at 7500 W. I have a motor that is 230 V single phase. When I run it on my building it uses 208 V and about 20 A and runs fine when I plug it into the 240v/30 Amp on my generator is the amperage is over 40 amp. Any idea what I could check to see what’s wrong I can’t get the amperage down
