HP I say nobody knows or cares cuz asc has only 1 view too:(

As you may recall the 'proclivities' of the (LtSpice) 'Default Diode' (among other Spice topics) were addressed last autumn ON THIS THREAD -- Please re-read the linked thread, should you yet have questions I'll happily post your Default Diode study schematics for discussion here:)
HP that describes problem but doesn't explain why:rolleyes:!

HP I say you asked it exactly with like _why is ideal model more faithful to reality than model of real component?_

So big time tnx to everybody who has commented! I'll try to be patient for more help:oops::D!

@crutschow -- Many thanks for your response!:)

What do you mean "simulate correctly'?
Apologies for the convolution:oops:

I meant that the behaviour of the real-world circuit (equipped with 2N3773s or 2N3055s) is accurately simulated only when the .asc model 'uses' the 'Default NPN'

Specifically:
When equipped with 2N3055s, the real world circuit
plateaus at ≈ +50KV (Ea) and ≈-50KV (Ek) within 50ms

When using the Default NPN model, the
simulation plateaus at ≈ +47KV (Ea) and ≈-47KV (Ek) within 50ms
For all intents and purposes 'perfect fidelity' as regards ultimate EMF...

On the other hand

When using its model for the 2N3055, the simulation plateaus at ≈ +34KV (Ea) and ≈ -34KV (Ek) within 27 ms:confused::confused::confused:

Very best regards
HP:)
