Hey all.

Just wanted to know how to remove this fuse from this fuse clip holder (image attached). It is attached in a PCB board and it is closely packed with other components. Is there any tool to remove fuses from such holders? Or is there any mechanisms (like, press and lift in a spring loaded connector)?

Thanks,
Nio

Automotive fuse pullers will do the trick.

This kit from Walmart provides several options for a few bucks but any auto parts store will have similar things.

another emergency workaround is to insert wire around the fuse, hold both wire ends and pull... chances are one side will still stay in the fuse holder. if it does not want to budge, with fuse in vertical position, push the stubborn end of the fuse (still in the holder) towards the other fuse holder side (already released). that should do the trick.

The "lost patience" method. Use a pair of fine nose pliers to break the glass, then pull the two ends out separately.

Hey everyone!
Thanks for your suggestions. I tried with Allen keys. I inserted the short arm and tried pushing it out and I was able to take it out.

also someone suggested me to use a nose pliers to slightly open up the clip and pull it, but I didn’t have to do it. In case someone else needs any help, can try this too.

Cheers,

Before you put a new one in, loop a small piece of cord and place it around the fuse. That way you have a handle to pull if you ever need to replace it again!

Just as a follow up. The fuse in the image is a Time lag 3AG fuse. Some places the manufacturers (like littelfuse) have time delay (Slo-mo) fuses (3AG). Some online sources say time lag and time delay (slo-mo) fuses are same. Does anyone know if they are same or are they different?

thanks!

Sew a piece of light fabric into a loop and slip it around the fuse.
It will make it easier to extract the fuse next time.
I do this with fuses and batteries in tight places such as DMM, toys, alarms, guitars, etc.

Yes, slow blow and time lag are the same.

@MaxHeadRoom beat me to it, my fingers! That failing, a flat blade "Tweaker" screwdriver is good for digging them out. Never needed anything else. The newer plastic cartridge automotive fuses give me more problems and sometimes need a pair of needle nose pliers to grab and hold them while pulling out.
