is this a good meter for checking almost anything ?

Especially if you do heating and air conditioning work. Fluke meters are good instruments.

If you don't do HVAC, check some other meters for their functions as a comparison.

 

Features I like (to name a few)...

True RMS (major feature)
Frequency (nice feature)
Capacitance (nice feature)
Thermocouple and microampmeter (nice features)

Overall a good piece of equipment, Flukes have a really good reputation, and are pretty tough.

The optional amp clampmeter is a must if you ever want to see if a heater is working. Measuring voltage across one says the switch is good, the current says the heater is good. If you have one dead heater among 4 it is a major feature.

 

Double check the specs.. I only saw a microamps scale (600). If that's all you need, it's all good, but most people prefer a higher current capability.

 

Guess that's why they are selling the clamp amp meter.

For its niche it's complete enough, most service techs don't use amps that way, it's more of a general purpose application.
