Hello everyone,

So i got a problem, I need a two-sided female 2 rows x 5 pins molex connector (shown in picture below). This is selfmade and there are no standard productions like this. The female connector is a little bit on its base shortened compared to the original and then with 10 two-sided female pins (2 pins again shortened and pinned together into 1 two-sided female pin, so alltogether 20 female pins). connected into one two-sided female connector. The proccess of making this by hand is really hard and demanding. But for now that is the only option to connect 2 selfmade devices so that when they are connected there are no gaps in between. I hope with this and with the pictures you get the Idea where I'm going with this. If anyone has a slight idea what could I do or suggest a solution, I'd be very thankful.

Welcome to AAC.

Normally, in the absence of injection molding equipment and industrial scale assembly, you would find a short housing between the two. Depending on the quantity you need, it would be possible to adopt one of many strategies.

I think I would look for a company that can produce the internal jumpers for you. If you buy enough they shouldn‘t cost appreciably more than the materials. Since this si straight through, color coding is not needed and that also reduces cost since one type of wire is all that’s needed.

I would also design—or have designed—a short-as-practical coupler. A sleeve that could accommodate a small amount of slack in the jumpers would greatly reduce reliance on super precise lengths. I would 3D print prototypes until I got it right, then either print for production (possibly on a resin printer) or farm that out to one of the many service houses that can do it.

Basically, design it and then have someone make you the parts—if not the full assembly. And unless it is absolutely mandatory that two connector housing be directly up against each other, put a housing on it.
