sorry for the basic drawing. im planning on doing some testing for a project at university.

Parts for project
Micro Water Turbine Generator DC Manual small Hydroelectric male thread water power Hydropower Yellow Power generation device (12V) £19.19. amazon.
20mm Double Union PVC Ball Valve EPDM O-Rings £11.04

EEMB 3.7V 1100mAh 603449 Lipo Battery Rechargeable Lithium Polymer ion Battery Pack with JST Connector. £8.89. or maybe a multi meter too.

im planning on using the parts about to test if the amount of water I have calculated will stored enough electricity. can anyone give me some advice if this is a good way to test or any improvements I can make

Welcome to AAC!
I suggest you do some maths to see how feasible the project is. If you know the fall and the volume flow rate through your turbine you should have a good idea of how much energy is available for conversion to electrical power.
