@Aleph(0) @cmartinez @shortbus et al.

Sorry all, inasmuch as, for our purposes at least, the new 'blog feature' is utterly hopeless (to put it kindly) coupled with the fact that lengthy projects are (apparently) no longer welcome on public fora, integrity obliges my abandonment of further development of same here...

To those (any?) wishing a continuation of the courses I'll (we'll) need to see a significant 'show of hands' on our IEC (fusor) site's subfora and/or @Aleph(0)'s ProvoServe site --- Hey 'lurkers' and 'silent hanger's on'? -- please be advised that alacrity is key! - I, for one, have grown quite weary of empty accolades!

Many sincere thanks to all AAC members having contributed to this thread and associated projects...

Please note also that I've no hard feelings toward EETech/AAC, nor their staff/management/ownership whatever! On the contrary! You have my heartfelt thanks for your kind --gratis-- hosting/archiving of over five years of our content! -- Format changes are fair!

I look forward to continued participation on these fora -- It is merely our 'projects' that I am 'diverting' to other sites...

Most sincerely
HP
HP, please let me know if there's anything that I can help you with. And I'd appreciate it if you were to link me to whichever other place you decide to continue your projects at.

I also would like a link to what ever site you use. I'd like to see the outcome of this. The project should be attending kindergarten this fall(5 years old). It has it's fifth birthday less than a month away. :)
Inasmuch as the project (Tutorial) development environment will reside in 'private' subfora on a semi-private site ('gated site' as per 'alephese'') a link won't help much sans an 'invitation code' -- That said,

@cmartinez @shortbus @Wendy @JoeJester @The Electrician @JohnInTX @Robert Clark @jpanhalt @#12 and all other bona-fide AAC and ETO members (past and present) having shown interest in these projects (or aspects thereof) you will each receive a PM containing an unconditional invitation at such time as the tutorials are re-established... To all who are less than 'thrilled to tears' at the prospect of our 'invite' - no worries and absolutely no hard feelings! - Narcissism is not among our vices - procrastination, sadly, is:oops:

Please note also that 'probational' membership will be extended to unknown parties demonstrative of credible interest upon request -- said probationary status to become 'unconditional' at such time as said genuine interest is established... Yes! I know! This 'exclusiviuty' BS sounds something quite dreadful! - But then I assure you it's merely to 'filter out' spammes, trolls and web-crawlers -- "Sisters of The Bell" we are not!

The when (and, frankly, the 'if') of all this is largely dependent upon @Aleph(0)'s demonstrated alacrity in this matter -- I simply haven't time to 'webdev' @Aleph(0)'s site nor to be the sole content provider, proffreader, editor and publisher:rolleyes:...

We'll be in touch

Very best regards

No need to explain that "exclusivity." Anyone who has had an open site can relate to problems with spammers, etc. Happened to my family's site more than 20 years ago.

Ok, reading what I just wrote below I'm still afraid someone could misunderstand! So I'll say it here at beginning too!:
Negative remarks and attitude about (most) of our readers DO NOT apply to any ACC members at all:)!
---

HP I say u can just whistle through your teeth and spit for all the good it will do! Cuz I'm not having those yobs (by which I mean lurking wallflowers and confirmed _kit builders_ [NOT AAC members who I definitely totally respect:)!]) on my _hard science_ site even in just private subfora!

HP now I'm going to tell you something you should totally have figured out for yourself a long time ago! PPL who are REALLY interested in HV, particle accelerators, bremsstrahlung and like that aren't the one's ur reaching! Cuz 99% of our non-AAC following totally lack desire or faculty of spontaneous thought! It's like example I keep citing about _half-Royer_ (which I still say is just variant of like _plain vanilla_ boost converter) in which almost every schematic on web the phasing is shown wrong! Which totally means someone (prolly accidentally) drew it wrong (like a _typo_) and proud-to-be IDIOTS just passed the incorrect diagram around for years basically saturating web with misinfo w/o even bothering to look on it and understand circuit! So they get around that by just saying something like _if it doesn't work try reversing the feedback coil leads_ instead of studying circuit and getting it right 1'st time_  Another example is that I can't find one site showing or even mentioning Vabar multiplier (by any name) so morons think u need center-tapped HV winding or dual xfmrs for full-wave voltage multiplier just cuz they bought into idiotic notion that _if it's not common knowledge it can't be done_ So they don't even try to understand let alone design and experiment with circuits which I say makes them extremely lazy or extremely stupid and prolly both! But whatever their issues are they totally refuse to think for themselves or even ask intelligent questions which I say disqualifies them as students of anything!

So I say let them play their online games, munch their Cheetos, _pleasure themselves_ to their favorite porn and swill their _liquid caffeine_ in peace! Cuz layabouts just aren't _student material_! The're just lazy dabblers w/o true interest in subject who don't want to learn! Only to play with arcs and sparks and _hey! Awesome! I can see bones of my hand!_

Sry HP cuz `I totally understand where you're coming from! But I say cause is lost despite your infinite patience just like with RK! So as would-be educator I say you lack just one crucial skill and that's seeing them for where their minds are actually at instead of projecting your enthusiasm onto them!

So anyhow I'd like to participate on here (AAC) when I can too but just so you know as far as I'm concerned _tutorials_ are too long dead to even draw flies and I have no desire to resurrect them! Here or elsewhere!

Note to mods: Please DON'T lock this thread! Cuz I (and I'm sure @Hypatia's Protege and other contributors) want to keep edit access to their posts and ability to make occasional new posts:) TNX!

Gee Aleph, how do you really feel?

Let me make one observation of what was when I saw it play out here on AAC was a mistake. Both of you gave a sum of money and a LOPT to your "students" hoping for a fast turn around of the tutorial. I'd bet the money is long gone, spent on other things, and the LOPT is sitting collecting dust if they even still have it.
This, instead of giving the same to the ones who have been with you from the beginning. Those who really had an interest in this thread.

Much as I'd like too -- there would seem no denying the sad fact!

Know that it is my sincere hope that you can find/'make' the time in the near future!:) -- It's just not the same 'round here without you, gal!

Now, now! -- No need to single out @Jazz2C;)

as far as I'm concerned _tutorials_ are too long dead to even draw flies and I have no desire to resurrect them! Here or elsewhere!
Agreed!:( That said I'm willing to complete any of the following (for private 'consumption') upon genuine request:

1) The LOPT re-purpose Tutorial.
2) The Passive multi-mode 150kV DC EHT indicator 'Mini-Tutorial'.
3) The inrush-controlled, high-current/high power (4kW), continuously adjustable low EMF (0 ~ 80V) unregulated linear PSU 'Mini-Tutorial'.

This is only fair inasmuch as some of you may have time, material and/or financial investment in said projects...

Please understand that by 'private' I mean only that there will be no further on-list pursuit of said projects --- All are welcome (on-request) to copies of completed drafts/images/instructions upon (off-line) completion of same and, moreover, are free to distribute same as desired with the understanding the neither I nor anyone involved claims intellectual property rights --nor accepts liability-- in or for said materials nor their use...

Both of you gave a sum of money and a LOPT to your "students" hoping for a fast turn around of the tutorial. I'd bet the money is long gone, spent on other things, and the LOPT is sitting collecting dust if they even still have it.
Such wasn't our intent though I've little to no doubt you're correct:( -- but with the following qualification:

and the LOPT is sitting collecting dust...
And quite likely with a broken core as well!

This, instead of giving the same to the ones who have been with you from the beginning. Those who really had an interest in this thread.
@shortbus, my friend - please trust me! -- There was nothing 'personal' in it! -- We were endeavoring to instruct hobbyists --as opposed to electrical engineers-- (the latter being largely represented by the AAC membership)-- hence @Jazz2C's classmates seemed a perfect fit -- Yes! Indeed! I might have known discipline and focus are attributes seldom found among the ranks of 'ravers', 'aficionados' of the 'mosh pit' and, by any measure, a lot of rowdy Greek club 'kids'.... --- That said I fully own the failure for my 'caving' to the convenience of allowing JC to handle recruitment of the Alpha team...

Gee Aleph, how do you really feel?
Indeed - such has been her attitude for some time -- Perhaps I should have taken a timeout from 'chasing rainbows' to consider her skepticism:( -- Although I yet maintain my stance that a 3% hobbyist-to-scientist/engineer 'turn-around' would have made it all worthwhile - the numbers just weren't there!

Honestly, I don't know how real educators do it! --- They certainly have my admiration and boundless gratitude!:)

Most sincerely
HP

That fits me. I'm just a very dumb hobbyist. No engineer, they won't even let me ring the bell or blow the whistle on the train. but if the LOPT was given to forum members, before distribution to hangers on, there is a possability that a easier way of removing said core could have been found.

No doubt of that, my friend! - And, I must say, not merely a possibility of a superior result - but, rather, a certainty-- As you proved via your 'puller' apparatus...

Very best regards
HP :)

HP sry for off topic post (on my own thread;)) but since it's 2 both of u here I have 2 say it! @Jazz2C's despondency over unrequited _love_ of you is so intense that it totally scares me cuz of possibility of suicidal reaction:(! HP I'm totally serious! So I know it disgusts U cuz you see it as a like _mofo_ sentiment but I say u need 2 remember he was teenager when you like _took him under your wing_!

HP now I'm going to tell you something! Plz notice how he acts in your physical presence! It's all totally appropriate! So I say he's just mentally created alternate version of you and that faux version is who he lusts after but he totally appropriately respects REAL you! So I say plz have serious talk with him IN PERSON cuz I say that will totally cut through his fantasies and emotional quagmire!

Don't you three ever communicate in private rather than air your dirty laundry in public?
Just curious.

@MrChips I usually communicate in private but I'd really like 2 see HP and JC back on here on regular basis and since everyone knows _soap opera_ of JC's feeling about HP I thought maybe _dirty laundry_ already aired in public was best _washed_ in public  !

After all these years, I'm still not convinced that at least two of the three are not one.
---Emphasis added---
By whom you --once again-- 'indict' @Aleph(0) and myself:rolleyes:

And, once again, I assert that you must imagine I (or Aleph?o_O) have a lot of time on my hands...

Sometimes I think "they" are the longest running -- and most intricate -- troll on the internet.
To what possible end? - Neither of us have exhibited disruptive behavior, etc... Moreover --up until recent changes in the fora software (said changes essentially crippling the blog feature)-- I daresay we have contributed more technical/on-topic content than many 'active kernal' members...

Well hey! No hard feelings! And rest assured that all know there is --there can only be-- a single 'iteration' of @joeyd999

but I'd really like 2 see HP and JC back on here on regular basis
I daresay such might readily be accomplished via your return to significant on-topic participation here! -- as opposed to amateur psychology or whatever 'flits' across your mind at any given moment! -- It's getting tough being one of a dwindling 'handful' of 'analogue enthusiasts' in 'Arduino land':(

With wan regards
HP

PS:
Shame on you @DickCappels for 'piling on' (via your 'like' of Joey's post!) -- I thought we were friends? - (tears):(;)

1) I don't think they are trolls; although presumably, they are 50% genetically identical.
2) After growing up East LA and spending many years in Baltimore and St.Louis, I accepted my first real job in a small town in SE Minnesota. After an all night drive, my wife and I were in LaCrosse, WI or just across the Mississippi, when we picked up a local radio station from where we were moving to. Of course, we were accustomed to reports of "our latest murder." Instead, we got a report of a parking lot collision between a shopping cart and car. That is not an exaggeration, but we looked at each other and asked rhetorically, where are we going to?
3) That was the beginning of 17 wondrous years spent in that small town.

Why does a troll troll? Only the troll knows...

Perhaps if you two started using different emoticons, and perhaps a different thesaurus, my suspicions would be alleviated.
Does that mean you refuse to take us seriously unless and until we learn to speak all 'down home' and 'southern-like'? Golly golly!:(

As regards emoticons, while I cannot (and dare not) speak for @Aleph(0), I miss the 'old' ones:( -- How did that old Dylan tune go?...

But seriously, Joey, we (i.e. Aleph and I) are family -Hence I expect we've managed to 'pick up' some similar 'dialectical habbits' from each other... - And, oh, yeah, if my highly dubious use of 'dialectical' (among many other DIY and otherwise 'iffy' inflections used over my years here) fails to dispel your running accusation of 'thesaurus pounding' 'bout all I can say is kick back and enjoy another bitter - I'm chill:) --- For all that, I wholly confess my frequent recourse to spell checkers:oops:

For the record neither of us aspire to 'ventriloquism' (aka 'sock puppetry') nor pretense to literacy (i.e. thesaurus use) -- That said, it seems @Aleph(0) derives no small degree of amusement from pretense to 'numpty-hood'

That there is funny, coming from the king
Oh... I wouldn't go that far, methinks it's merely down to his (Joey's) frustration at not being allowed to discuss politics here? -- But really! A glance at the state of these fora (a short) four years ago attests to the wisdom of said prohibition! -- But hey @shortbus - sincere thanks for your support!

Very best regards all around!
HP:)
