EHT power supply design and construction

HP fair enough so I'm totally willing to deal:cool:!

I promise to totally return to regular participation on thread and projects AS SOON AS YOU COMPLETE FB MOD TUTORIAL! Which I say isn't asking a lot since most pix are already embedded on post and only _chapter_ left is just super low current non-res Royer test circuit for moded FBs! So when you do that I'll know you're still _into it_ and that's all encouragement I need:)!
Thank you! Such is both acceptable and quite reasonable! -- Further elaboration/discussion of my plans to follow when time permits (soon!)

FaceBook mod?????
Based upon context, @Aleph(0)'s intent with 'FB' is certainly in reference to 'flyback' (Spec. flyback transformers as apparent in the EHT and horizontal deflection circuits of CRT display devices) --- Please note, however, that I strongly disapprove of said term (Re: our purposes) inasmuch as our application of said devices is strictly limited to forward transformation - Hence my preference for 'LOPT' (i.e. line output transformer) which, while yet 'on-label specific', as it were, is (IMHO) less prone to confusion - being, as it is, 'wonderfully free' of oxymoronism (ya getting this, @Aleph(0)?)

Many sincere thanks for your interest!

Very best regards
HP

@Aleph(0) @cmartinez @shortbus -- and anyone who cares....

As may be seen below I've made a 'start' upon completion of our initial tutorial -- It seems the greatest challenge (i.e. 'time consumer') will be re-linking abbreviation/acronyms to their expansions' addys at their new locations (at the time of this writing only 'LOPT' has been thus 'repaired')... As per @Aleph(0) completion of content is indeed trivial...

I promise to do what I can when I can...

Most sincerely
HP:)

Kind friends:

Despite all 'outward appearances' please rest assured that I have not abandoned this effort!

'Stale' though it may sound -- the demands of my 'day job' have been uncharacteristically 'heavy' as of late -- Please bear with me!

With utmost sincerity
HP

PS @Aleph(0) -- Any time you might spare to the end of keeping this thread 'alive' would be greatly appreciated!

HP I say since you are active on off-topic fora U can also keep thread going just by FINISHING THE FRIGGING TUTORIAL! HP being totally serious since pix are all attached to post all u have to do is add chapter abt testing rebuilt FB so what's the problem:confused:?

By the numbers:

1) Might I suggest that a distinction exsists between a bit of sporadic off-topic socialization --VS-- composition/publication of instructional material (especially where said material is with definite safety considerations)?

2) While indeed my illustrations, etc are attached to the Tutorial posts - I have yet to re-locate and link/embed reader contributions (i.e. suggestions and alternatives) - Nor is such merely a matter of courtesy to those having donated considerable time and effort assisting us! -- For though I fairly burn with shame at the confession, it is a matter of fact that many readers will likely find said alternatives superior to certian techniques presented in my composition - such is especially the case for those being 'industrial arts strong' albeit 'resource challenged'...

3) But then, @Aleph(0), as per your assertion that (to paraphrase your remarks immediately above) completion of the LOPT Tutorial is a 'mere nothing' - howz about you tackle it? Lord knows you have fewer demands upon you time than I...

Many sincere thanks for putting in an appearance, as it were!

Wow, the prodigal daughter returns! Kill the fatted calf! Sing "Bennie and the Jets" at full voice! :p :);)
Actually... She's been here all along (lurking as a 'guest') -- It's all down to her shaming me for (as she sees it) my alleged 'foot dragging' Re: continued development of the EHT Tutorials...

FWIW 'The Problem' (her words) breaks down as follows:

5% The issues outlined in post #2089
95% The increasingly frenetic 'hurly-burly' that has become my 'off-line life' as of late:rolleyes:

Please rest assured that the LOPT Prep Tutorial, the High Current 0-100V Battery Eliminator and the Balanced 120kV DC EHT Indicator as well as the EHT PSU projects will be completed!:)

Re: the Battery Eliminator and the EHT Indicator: In addition to composing the text, I must now re-up some images lost during the upgrade -- inasmuch as I save all project images (including 'duds') the good news is that said resources yet reside on my servers albeit as unsorted 'needles' in an unsorted 'haystack' of unsorted 'chaff' -- hence completion of said efforts may be with some significant delay...

Re: the LOPT Prep Tutorial (Currently resident on posts #2085 and #2086) -- As per @Aleph(0), said project is indeed nearly complete save for the final 'chapter' -and- in-line references to reader suggestions/alternatives (e.g. @shortbus' core puller, etc...) moreover, I must re-evaluate linking abbreviations to an external glossary/expansion table vs 'immediate' citation upon the posts... -- For all that, I anticipate 'near-term' compleation of the LOPT Prep Tutorial...

Many thanks!

Best regards

There's always self quarantining. :) :p
Yebut doing so with the merest modicum of creadibly would require falsification of 'test' results - Which being certainly unethical (on a number of levels) and likely illegal (à la 'crying wolf', falsely sounding a fire alarm, etc...) -- So it's 'yo-heave-ho' for yours truly:rolleyes:

Best regards

@Aleph(0) As regards my renewed expenditure of effort on these projects? - I'll have you know that I've taken the precaution of manually backing all 58 LOPT Prep images in case they should 'expire' following the move -- Granting that I merely 'nabbed' (downloaded) the .webp files, such was, nonetheless, a significant amount of work requiring Ca. 3 hours of my time -- How much time have you committed to this effort over the last year? --- Get my point?

Best regards

To the end of coherency I ask that everyone kindly refrains from posting upon the new thread (i.e. please regard it as 'read only')!
Say, that's an excellent idea... wish I would've thought of it sooner. Some previous threads of mine lost their way due to unwanted or humorous sidetracking by third parties or even myself...

Rest assured, I'll keep my wisecracks and smart remarks confined to this thread... and try to post a useful idea or comment in the new one every blue moon or so.

How do you expect to get your "replies" and "views" count high by doing that? :p :eek:

Only a joke no need to reply

To clarify - Inasmuch as the functionality of the 'new' blog feature is incompatible with my (former) use of same, my idea is to post the Tutorials/Projects proper to my (newly created) thread (on the Power Electronics forum) <<<EDIT: As per site policy said resources now reside on my blog this post left intact for 'context' only>>> said content to be referenced/linked where appropriate.

Thank you for that! But then I felt a clarification was in order:oops:

Please know that I am hard at work repairing my blog (i.e. re-uping lost attachments and re-linking the 'survivors' [all of which having been 'quasi-arbitrarily' re-addressed in the course of the recent fora upgrade]).

The good news is that I'm finally 'learning the ropes' Re: the new blog feature:cool: --- Unfortunately said 'repairs' may take a while inasmuch as my 'leisure hours' are increasingly limited to a scant few per week (at best) for the nonce...

Many sincere thanks for your understanding and superhuman patience!

With warm regards

@Aleph(0) @cmartinez @shortbus et al.

Sorry all, inasmuch as, for our purposes at least, the new 'blog feature' is utterly hopeless (to put it kindly) coupled with the fact that lengthy projects are (apparently) no longer welcome on public fora, integrity obliges my abandonment of further development of same here...

To those (any?) wishing a continuation of the courses I'll (we'll) need to see a significant 'show of hands' on our IEC (fusor) site's subfora and/or @Aleph(0)'s ProvoServe site --- Hey 'lurkers' and 'silent hanger's on'? -- please be advised that alacrity is key! - I, for one, have grown quite weary of empty accolades!

Many sincere thanks to all AAC members having contributed to this thread and associated projects...

Please note also that I've no hard feelings toward EETech/AAC, nor their staff/management/ownership whatever! On the contrary! You have my heartfelt thanks for your kind --gratis-- hosting/archiving of over five years of our content! -- Format changes are fair!

I look forward to continued participation on these fora -- It is merely our 'projects' that I am 'diverting' to other sites...

Most sincerely
