Hello,
My name Orestas and i from Lithuania.
This year I have been studying electronics in class 9.It's first class then we studying electric.
For example, how to calculate W, V, R and later fix schemes build schemes (with LED, RESISTOR, BATTERY and BUTTON).

This is my homework:
Build schema which would be able to charge 1.2v batteries with solar cells and turn on the LED from the battery.
And if it's not hard to you explain how it's working ;D.

First using web lookup "how to charge your battery type" to find out how the type
of battery you have needs to be charged properly. That's your starting point.

Then you need to adapt it to use solar cells as the energy source.

It would help us quite a bit if you describe what "class 9" means.

Probably the most useful piece of information might be how old someone is that is taking this class. That will let us roughly picture the level at which the material is being taught.

My real homework is build house model which would be ecological and effective.
Others will draw solar panels there, and I want to do some more realistically.
I would be very grateful if you would contribute to me and help :).

In Lithuania is 12 classes. Now i'm 16 years old and I'm in class 9.
Lithuania is slightly different.We have grades from 1 to 10, in america is letters A+ to F-.
I hope you understand, if you not skip it is not important, I just need a schema with an explanation.

Okay, I'm trying to do the scheme.
But I have one question, is there such a thing that I would drive electricity to one side?
If yes,how's he called ? Because i need to put where is space.

When a solar cell isn't generating electricity/voltage, it will act as a diode. So you should have a diode to prevent the battery from being discharged in that case. That means you need a higher voltage from the solar panel.

If the current from the solar panel is sufficiently high, you need a way to limit charging current. The LED also needs a current limiting resistor.

What color LED will you be using? Forward voltage for white and blue are too high for a single 1.2V battery.

You should see how much light you get from a white LED operating at 1.2V. I think it will be fairly dim.

I only have surface mount white LEDs. I tested one with a continuity tester, consisting of 2 NiMH AA batteries and a 3V incandescent bulb, and it was very dim. This particular LED has a red LED connected anti-parallel, due to the low reverse breakdown voltage of the white LED, it was quite bright.

Charging batteries is not such an easy task, which depends on the type of battery used. Some can be dangerous if charge incorrectly. So for the purpose of your project, I would advise to give up with the battery and just have the LED powered from a solar panel directly (of course with a current limiting resistor in series). This is a nice project which of course will be better than those who draw the solar panels.
