It's been a while since I've dealt with transistors. Long story short, I find myself in need of a cheap high current bridge rectifier with plenty of surge capacity for starting DC motors across the line, closing onto capacitive loads, tolerating accidental overloads, etc. 100A continuous or better. I've got a dozen or so old 400A, 1200V IGBT half-bridge modules lying around. Is there any reason I couldn't permanently wire the transistors into a non-conducting state and then exploit their built-in freewheel diodes to build a full wave rectifier?
