Doubts electrolytic capacitor

I literally have access to hundreds of >50 year old capacitors of all capacitances, voltages, and packaging, used and new.
I would be able to take a sample and verify any of the above claims.

Among those responsible for equipment that must be far more reliable than consumer electronics some styles of aluminum electrolytic caps will never be used. Those have a stated life time of 2000 hours. While I do not know how they define failure, that number is rather unimpressive. With the physically small caps there can be failures by loss of capacity, excess leakage current, and excess equivalent series resistance, all completely aside from short circuit, or exploding. And I know that some kinds can develop a high series resistance.
