Once upon a time, I knew an M.D who had 3 back surgeries without consulting a D.O. or a chiropractor. Now, he is dead and I am not. Yay, hubris.
You gotta help a brother out, D.O. ?

kv:(

Edit: Please help the people, those of us on the forum who are Acronym or Abbreviation-deficient .

Doctor of Osteopathy...the, "other" kind of doctor in the U.S. They have the full M.D. education plus chiropractic education.
D.O.s believe that adjustment of the spinal column adjusts the parts back into their proper place and reduces irritation (and worse) on nearby structures. M.D.s believe that is a lot of hocus-pocus. A D.O. reduced my, "can't walk" days by 90% and kept me that way for 16 years doing stuff an M.D. wouldn't even try.

There must be different kinds?
I went to one when I was younger. She pushed on various places with a little spring loaded wand. I laughed and went on my way after my 4 appointments were up.
Once when I moved the movers hired a guy that came by at the end of the day. He grabbed me and popped by back in about 7 places. Felt great.:D

Popped your back ??? o_O
Yes. It pops.
One time, I jerked a rib out of my backbone swinging an axe. Couldn't take a deep breath until the D.O. popped the rib back into place.
I learned how to pop most of my lower back by myself.:) Upper? Need a D.O. or a Chiropractor to do that.:(

The hammer guy was a quack. After 25 years on crutches, I have to lay off work for 3 days and take half a Flexeril to get my muscle tone low enough for a doc to make any progress. Even then, no female doc has a chance. They just aren't muscly enough.

A good Chiropractor will climb you like a tree and leave you hoping tomorrow will be better.
I have to tell them that 5 seconds of cringing pain is a small price to pay for the months without pain that they are buying for me.

Dead serious. I have skeleton problems from multiple broken legs. I have to make it clear to the doc that I am not normal and he better be having a good day or we're just wasting each others' time.

Yes, sorry. I did indeed feel good afterward. It was like everything was back where it belonged.:)
Thats why those Japanese girls walk on backs, even though their small they can do a full Message while putting your back in, if your like TCM they just get bigger girls to do the job.

I have had the chance, but I never got a back massage from those thai, jap girls. Instead I sent my wife. She said it was the worst and the best feeling ever.
She was having back aches for a while though.
We were on vacation in a Resort.

Pretty much! 60# daughter had good intentions but was too small and the 250# Ex was too spiteful. I need someone around 160#'s with a good caring personality and strong toes. (or a small hydraulic press) :p

Yep. Sometimes a stuck joint being unlocked really stings for a moment but a few minutes later it's so much better!

My chiropractor's a good sized guy and even then he has to work me over good with a hard deep massage and occasionally a high level TENS electroshock treatment first to get my muscles loose enough to get me unlocked.

He admits I make him work for his money. ;)

I like that idea, but it's much faster for a human, rather than, "set up" every move with a machine.
Besides, a machine can't feel where to push and when it's, "enough".
a high level TENS electroshock treatment
That reminds me, my good doc used to, "cook" me for half a hour with a doctor quality TENS machine so he didn't have to work so hard.
It worked! Work effort necessary was reduced by about 70%.

For what it's worth, I've adjusted my routine so that I get my daily swim and steam-room time in just before my visits to the chiropractor. He has remarked more than once that I'm easier to adjust than he expected from appearances (size, weight, muscle tone, etc.).
