An Oceanographic Research Institute sent me these pictures over, but I'm not having much luck identifying them. What are they and where can I find the specs for these items.

 

The second pic looks like some sort of controller. The red PCB is a microcontroller from the Avnet MicroZed product line.

@gbtbtbt Seriously though, looking at the shape, its something that's assembled into a tubular case, maybe lowered down a drill shaft (see the 'core' nomenclature on the wiring loom) or maybe a hydrosonde, towed behind a ship.... which ties in with the Oceanographic Research. What's written on the partially hidden rear PCB in pic 1? Almost certainly these are limited run custom assemblies for a specific project....

 

Detonator for nuclear-tipped torpedo?

 

The size of those coils would suggest high power levels at play. I'd guess sonar transmitter or similar.

Thank you for the help, as the following pictures are an Avnet MicroZed product line and a tsunami detection buoy. As of this time, I have not received much more information other than the confirmation of those two items. I couldn't have figured this out without the community's help and I thank those again for the assistance.
