I need to know what kind of component is in the image.
It is in series with the battery and the rest of the circuit.
Resistance between terminals ~1ohm.
Package seems to be 0603.

As it's 1Ω, if it's an LED then it's a dead LED.
My vote is a fuse.

Yes, it may be.
I googled "0603 fuse" but no image was the same. Most of them have contacts like a resistor or chip capacitor, not only in the bottom.
AVX manufactures something similar but different color in the image:

I'm still not 100% sure.

Yes, the case is clear but it has a green layer on top.
Definitely is not a LED, unless it has been shorted.
