Very interesting and poignant comments from all. I posted this because I thought it was an interesting notion but like the rest of you I, too, didn't buy into a "no-contact tester" that can tell the difference between a shorted cap or diode or an open one. I just don't see how it's possible. But I thought it would make for some good content.

nothing says "reputable" product like promotional video where comments are turned off...
and nothing says "safe" product like one where you get to probe high voltage circuits such as PSU, while holding bare PCB in your hand.
any such videos should land creators in jail.
Good catch! The fact that the crap was not even in a decent case tells all you need to know. it is kinda rude to advertise a naked crap like that.

I can believe that the device measures something, and that whatever that something is can be useful for diagnosing a circuit. It's probably like the xmas light string repair tool that can detect where the supply wire is no longer hot.

There's NO WAY it can produce a good/bad decision for all components based on only that measurement.

Consider a PCB with a broken trace. Every "dead" component will likely appear to be bad when in fact the required repair is to simply bridge the break.

I have found that there are very few who know how to make a decent Youtube instructional video, my main pet peeve, apart from rapid fire talking, is when using an instructional video, they use the mouse as though they are in a race, and any selection appears as ablink of the eye!!
One of the exeptions is a guy who shows how it should be done IMO. He also happens to be Dutch, in spite of English being his second laguage, I find his video's excelent. He has also written some good books on his selected subjects.
His name is Bernard't Hooft
Nearly all quality contents on electronics are created by people with a thick East EU accent. Fesz Electronics another go to if RF is your thing.

Re-reading this comment, it made me remember that electronics in the "olden days" was highly accessible to everyone, including 5 year olds. Not so much anymore, I think.
Consider that the computer power in an average cell phone is much greater than the power of a room fill of "UNIVAC" computer. Times have changed. And I am not convinced that gullibility has been reduced.
AND those fast talking individuals are all a strange language to me, because I don't hear fast any more. TEXT is the way to get a message across clearly. PLUS, text consumes much less bandwidth!!

Double-like to that ... :)

And I'd also add that Text leaves a clear traceable registry of every exchange
