The sum of two 4 bit numbers is a 5 bit number. So you need a 3-way multiplexer that can handle 5 bits plus two seven segment displays.

When I used to use them in my designs, I used one decoder and muliplexed that to as many 7-segment displays I needed. Quite simple really. Be glad to show you.

By the way. If you have a carry from an addition, use the 8th element in your display, the point to indicate it. Not another display.
