Directions sensors or microcontrollers

Hi guys

i am completely ignorant to this field but now i forced to do a project.
something simple device to send a signal when it's pointing at a direction.
i am not sure how and where to start from.

any help would do

You have given very few details. Where to start would be looking at projects where folks have done as much, like https://howtomechatronics.com/projects/how-to-make-a-compass-using-arduino-and-processing-ide/ for example.

this is exactly what i was looking for.

basically when the system turns in a certain direction, it sends a command to a device to turn the same direction.

like i said i am really bad with these things, but i really need to do this

Consider that none of these technologies are perfect.

What is the device for? can it tolerate an inaccurate response? latency, and other gremlins?
For example, compass-based systems can be totally whacked out by large metal objects.

well, i want to use it to remotely (wireless) control direction of a device.
just simple left, right back and front.
latency is not an issue, the distance will be around 20-30m or less.
