Diode Help

Hello all im in need of a bit of help any know what this diode is

Hi Steve. Welcome to the forum. What did this diode come out of? If it is of industry standard marking, it should be a 1N97. But not all manufacturers follow the exact same color coding.

I can't be sure of the part #. Did you test it with an ohmmeter? It should conduct one way and not conduct when you reverse the leads. Maybe someone else reading your post will know.

From your tester it appears to be a working diode.
Do you have a multimeter with a diode range?
If so test it on that range, with the leads both ways round.

If you have the exact same diode, you can determine if it's a zener diode by gradually increasing the voltage to it through a resistor and measure the voltage across it. In 1 direction, it should stop at .6V. Reversing the diode polarity it should stop at the zener voltage. Ideally, an adjustable power supply with a current meter will speed up the process. Don't give it more than a few mA.
