Designing a 555 timer to produce pulses from one per second-on per 10 seconds

Hi,
As the title states, I need to produce a circuit which includes a 555 timer.How ever I know I have to use the formula: f=1.44/(R1+2R2)*C
Would I be right in assumeing I would need to use a variable resistor that will change the rate of pulses?
