Design a alternativ clock

Hi,
Have this made in vb.net, for show, I will make this in PCB with around 1000 Leds.
Have designed how the Leds are mountet, but can i drive it all with just 1 Mcu .ex 16F18877
If i use 33 Outputs, and connect in charliePlexing, ? but will MCU be fast enough for this. ?

You can do it with 1 output using addressable LED strips like WS2812B. And save many hours on wiring and many more on programming.

WS2812B can update 1000 LEDs in about 30 msec.

And they are full color.

I could do with a bit longer video to see exactly what happens, but you could do it with a load of 74HC574 s wired as, i think, three separate 8-bit-wide shift registers, then the software overhead will be tiny.

Made a longer video, Yes it can proberly be done with LED Stribs, but that's not how i want,

I would go with serial to parallel ICs like 74C595 and do standard multiplexing over SPI. I guess 16*64 could work, that is 16 high current row drivers and 8 ICs with 64 buffer transistors.

I would use an Orange Pi 2w just because I have one. Any Raspberry pi with a HDMI can do it using an old computer monitor or TV in place of the LEDs.
