So there we have it! But really, we all have homes with circuit protection, just not all of it is so very modern, but still very effective. And just because something is not new does not mean that it is faulty. In fact, given the current push by many new technology manufacturers to have things be obsolete in six months, out of warranty in one month, and fail within a year, we are doing well in spite of them. (WAY OFF TOPIC, I know).
So my older house, still equipped with fuses, although also with 2 breaker panels and some GFCI devices, survives very well.

ALL of the past power blackouts have been the fault of the distribution system beyond the immediate neighborhood system, the failings of the more modern stuff, actually. Oh Well!

So the search to determine actual fault peak current certainly lead to an interesting wander of the thread. And hopefully an adequate answer.

Power poles and pole transformers have virtually been eliminated in most major cities and are generally only found in rural areas, at least in this country.
I have a local distribution one sitting at the end of my yard
And due to the inability to obtain house insurance, knob and tube wiring and Wired Service Main fusing has virtually been eliminated.

The exception being cities in poorer areas of the world.!
Delhi for e.g.
Max.

Hi,

Interesting pic. A picture paints 1000 amps.
