Has anyone managed to read data (electronically) from a Smart (electricity) meter?
Is it easy?
All I'd like it to tell me is whether it was on cheap rate or not
[edit] so that I can automatically switch on certain high-current loads.

 

My normal in-house display reads in-use kW and price (from which cheap rate could be deduced, but I don't have a multi-rate tariff).

 

My electric power distribution company provides the time/rate tables with every bill.
