Many years ago during the controller strike (President Reagan), a buddy and I were flying from Minnesota to SoCal. We happened to stop in Dalhart,TX, a WWII B-29 training base. There is/was a diner on the field. It was as close to "Flo's Diner" from the television series that I have seen. If you want to go back to the 1950's, include it on your itinerary, if it is still there.

Back to the Video, I thought it was perfectly alright, not to long for me. It helped me see what the east has in terms of roads and how they lay.

Thanks,
kv

Thanks for the feedback. I figure on keeping most videos to only a few minutes each, as anything more starts to become tedious (for me, anyway).

As for roads, the quality of ours here in the east is spotty; some are OK, some are atrocious. Interstate 95 through Chester, Pennsylvania, which is where I shot that video, is especially bad with lots of potholes and poor patch jobs.

I think May is out, barring a miracle.
And... it's out.

I'm going to postpone, at least until early September if not until next Spring. It doesn't seem to make any sense continuing with my initial plan of leaving 7 weeks from now: it looks like I very likely would encounter closed restaurants and possibly closed hotels all across the country even if this Coronavirus thing starts to clear up real soon-- and it doesn't look like that's going to be happening.

This type of nonsense doesn't bode well, either:

Official: Toilet paper being stolen from I-80 rest stops in Nebraska

I'll re-assess the situation come August and see where things stand.

Damn.

In the meantime, a little PSA:

Four years after snapping this pic, I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out what this tank car inscription means:

A month later, and I'm still bored out of my skull and going stir crazy-- but I don't seem any crazier than I was before, so all is good.

I've uploaded another YouTube video, here. Weather fascinates me, and we finally got some yesterday. Up til now we've had little other than monotonously clear skies, or dreary, featureless overcase. But yesterday a cold front pushed through with strong winds and a burst of rain (although the promised thunderstorms never materialized), making for some interesting cloud movements throughout the day as the prevailing winds changed direction.

This video was filmed on the GoPro8 in time lapse mode, with 300:1 time compression (1 frame per 10 seconds).
