I want to build a circuit where I have a load of 10 - 15K and a DC source of 12-20V max.
I want to have a minimum current of 8-10 mA through the load.

Is this at all possible or not?? (I know that supposedly I would need a min voltage of about 80V, but I was wondering if it were possible through any other way..)

Nope, you want 8mA through 10k, you gotta have 80V. That's how it works. See ohms law.

 

Switch-mode boost converter power supply . 12-20vdc at ~0.1A input...>80vdc output. No specific circuit in mind, but that would give you what you asked.

Perhaps you can elaborate on your application. Then we may be able help you refine your requirements a bit.

You could build a flyback converter.

To get 10mA through a 15k Ohm load, you'll need 150v.

There's a Nixie tube flyback supply on the link that will output 180v from a 12v supply.

If you're new to electricity/electronics, I recommend that you stick with circuits that are under 50v until you get about 1,000 hours worth of studying and practical experiments under your belt.
