Some people say the virus started from a person in Italy who drank a Corona beer.
The first case in my part of Canada was one year ago yesterday. He went to Wuhan China (where they eat live bats and reptiles and where the real virus started) and brought the virus here. Then millions more people did the same thing but travelled all over the world.
Even today, many large jets are arriving in my city every day completely full of sick people. They are Canadians returning from a vacation.

Yes. And here in BC we are told to stay home like we have never stayed home before to prevent the spread.

Stay home hard!

The way things are going this will never be over.

One thing I find difficult is that I never heard a specific defined goal for either implementing or removing measures. Statements are always made such as "when cases are low enough"...

On the upside, perhaps when flu season is back the hospitals will just be sending people home to recover instead if filling up ER?

The flu vaccine is free and is available everywhere here, but stupid people do not get vaccinated and clog up ambulances, hospitals and morgues. Then people with other health emergencies die.
Experts say that my flu vaccinations will give me good avoidance of another heart attack or a stroke. They say flu vaccinations provide less complications when having a cold. Maybe that is why I have not had a cold for many years.

There is more and more evidence that vaccinating healthy people is not a good choice in the long run. Neither does it make sense from biology perspective. It only makes sense if you look at how much it improves profits for the manufacturers. Older (weak immune system) and thise who are compromised is a different scenario.

Are polio, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, adenovirus, rabies and hepatitis A in this group?

Edited. Was responding to flu vaccine.

This is why debates cannot be held anymore... Question flu vaccine = antivaxer. Question affirmative action = racist. Question quota systems in workplace = racist/sexist. For some reason nothing can be evaluated based on its merit anymore.

What I learned in public healthcare - it does not care about individual outcome. I happen to be an individual

Experts say that Your Backwards way of thinking and acting will prolong the pandemic.
People who are not vaccinated will keep passing the virus around until they all die.

And I question your questioning... Does that make me an anti-skeptical? ... :p

The backwards way of letting my body take care of infections?

There are millions of viruses and bacteria invading us every day. Most of the time it is not a big deal because of our excellent defense system. It is amazingly adaptable.

Perhaps you should research some more on hospital acquired infections and medical errors. Might put things in perspective. I will let you find the numbers that are to your liking

A vaccine for a virus prompts your body to make antibodies against the virus.
"This means that if you’ve had the vaccine and then get infected by the real virus, your immune system has a head start and quickly makes lots of the right kind of antibodies, which destroy the virus before it has the chance to spread through your body and make you sick."

Smallpox killed 500 million people but thanks to a vaccine, today it is eliminated. Soon if most people get the Covid-19 vaccine then Covid-19 will be eliminated (except fools who do not get vaccinated).

We thought Measles was eliminated but today it is back because there are fools avoiding its vaccine.

You are selectively reading my posts. I am also not sure how you can compare smallpox (mortality rate of 30%) with what is going on today?

p.s. a year into the pandemic our town of 12k has first casualty. It is in long term care of course

A contagious virus is travelling from city to city all over the world. Except in your isolated little town.
Today my local post office got 234 cases of the virus and one person died.
All old age homes have many people with the British Variant of the virus.
Jets full of people with the virus arrive every couple of hours.
Hospitals are overloaded and ordinary heart attacks and accidents cannot fixed.
Until most people get vaccinated to get rid of the virus.

This is my last comment on the subject. You are in Ontario? When have the hospitals not been overloaded?

FYI

There will be a lot of conflicting information coming out. You may want to remember that vaccine was only tested for preventing severe disease and nothing else. Unlike other vaccines that you have brought up.

I wish to point out that this is the flu season in North America and hospitals are sized to handle a large number of patients this time of the year. A hospital being full is not a sign of catastrophe as much as it is a sign of good planning, even though for some reason they always make it sound like the end of the world year after year.

It would still be blue as you see it, because the illusion of color happens in the mind, not the eyes.

When I see how some people dress or paint their homes, I often wonder if we all perceive color the same.
I understand. I should have been less specific. My curiosity is less about the eyeballs themselves and more about the entire apparatus of visual perception, which includes the portions of the mind that process the information. I have the same curiosity about the other senses. Sound, taste, smell, etc.

People who bathe themselves in strong perfume or listen to "music" that I can only describe as cacophony. People who say cilantro tastes like soap. They revive the curiosity every time I run across them.

There is a map of the brain (homunculus) which shows roughly what areas perform what functions. There is a condition in which neurons have crossed over the "border" and the senses blend.

What i find more fascinating is some blind people can develop ability to echolocate. This is becuase they now have neurons that would have been used for vision and they are dedicate them to sound.

Our brains are truly amazing (and underutilized).

This was really brief, it is an amazing area to look into.
