I had a trip planned for Islamorada tomorrow. My host told me today to stay in Broward. He doesn't want me there.
You know what the traffic can be in the Keys when they all decide to leave at once. They survived the hurricane so for the locals this is a piece of cake.

It's a still a wonderful world. Kids are outside riding bikes, trees in bloom, birds singing. :) :) :)

While I'm inside, watching an old horror flick while having a drink.
Grey, cold and raining here. But I can still code. And drink. Ohh yeeeah, and DRINK. It's way past 5-o'clock, I see. Time to back up the laptop and get some ice.

Sure, mine was a HG2G reference Those sectors are Critical Infrastructure so workers will be on the job until the end, one way or the other. I've heard through the grapevine that Hydro workers here about being asked to live onsite in trailers. Critical manufacturing/infrastructure sites here are company employee only, all access doors, roads keycard locked with only vetted vendors allowed for resupply and repair emergencies during 'normal' times. I expect to see additional security steps taken in the near future. No special inside knowledge on this rumor passed down from a friend but if you need to do something or go somewhere do it before next monday or tuesday.
This is the Rumor I heard about from a friend. It might be designed as an example of what can happen if we lose isolation control. I'm sure they are gaming all kinds of ideas so take it with a big grain of salt.

President Trump, moving with haste to slow the spread of the coronavirus, is preparing a plan to mobilize the National Guard to help enforce a two-week quarantine of the public if his tough-love efforts so far fail.

The unprecedented action would require everyone to “stay at home,” according to a source knowledgeable of the evolving plan.

The effort, which is still being mulled and wouldn’t be announced until early next week if needed, would urge that all businesses, except grocery stores and pharmacies, be closed.

We’re already there in Illinois. It won’t much affect those of us already hunkered at home. We can still get gas and groceries, go for a walk or run, etc. Anyone that can work from home already is.

Like I said before, being in quarantine on a nice cruise ship is not that bad if nobody is sick.

Being on a sub might be even safer but it's lonely down there.

I read some of Pritzker's EO, and there are a lot of exemptions. Going through the list, I can't think of much that won't be allowed to stay open. Pretty much all manufacturing is exempt, which is a huge relief to me. We'll be open Monday morning.

Au Contraire! The Conch Republic has also closed its border! No more furriners! Those already there, unless they have a long-term lease, gotta get the hell out and stay out! Seems to be a popular choice as the low country of the Carolinas and elsewhere have also said to stay away from us and no more ferry visitors!

I was talking about the furriners leaving. Citizens of The Conch Republic are not going anywhere.

I wish them all the luck.

A bit of perspective

I urge excessively concerned individuals to bear in mind the fact that results of the 'first round' of comprehensive 'testing' are, as a practical matter, interpretable solely as an indicator of prevalence - hence one is ill advised to regard the inevitable surge in 'positives' attendent thereto as indicative of incidence.

That said, I am in full concurrence ---and strongly urge compliance--- with 'containment measures'!

Please,
relax! The current crisis is no 'joke' but neither is it the end of society as we know it!

With best regards and without intent to condescend...

Most sincerely
HP

WASHINGTON/NEW YORK (Reuters) - The U.S. electric industry may ask essential staff to live on site at power plants and control centers to keep operations running if the coronavirus outbreak worsens, and has been stockpiling beds, blankets, and food for them, according to industry trade groups and electric cooperatives.
The local SEMI companies are already in a factory lockdown. No air travel, no hotel stays anywhere in the world, IR image scanning, increased medical monitoring, etc ...

Increasing positives that gain immunity without a corresponding increasing number of very sick is a good thing for the long term elimination of the virus.
