The max-effort research into Corona might just be the kick we needed to investigate treatments for a wide spectrum of medial issues while looking for a magic bullet(s). We are in a period like the 60's space program in medical research looking for cures and treatments. Most will fail but it's likely we will find some incredibly valuable medical information during the search.
It also shows how quickly things can move when regulations are loosened.

The role of ACE inhibitors (ACEI's) in prognosis is still up in the air. Studies out of China and elsewhere show that co-morbidity with diabetes and/or cardiovascular disease correlate with poorer prognosis.

The question can be raised whether patients being treated with ACEI's inhibitors (e.g, ACE2 inhibitors) or angiotension receptor blockers ARB's) should alter their treatment if infected with Covid-19. This study: https://www.elsevier.com/about/pres...ve-prognosis-in-covid19-hypertensive-patients
suggests that hypertensive patients being treated with ACE inhibitors or ARB's may be better off than those not being treated with the inhibitors and should not alter their therapy if infected.

What's funny:

I've been binge-watching House on Amazon the last two weeks or so. Currently on season 5.

From this, I now understand this medical jargon.

As an aside: for anyone curious as to my real-life personality, they could've modeled House after me.

That may be why I haven't been hit yet. Mahoning County has the highest death rate in the state according to the radio today.

“Oh, I think they have the rabies under control now” sez Shortbus. I am not sure what you mean by under control but there are two or three people who die from rabies every year in these our united states.

Today's numbers:

We shut down the world for this???
Let me understand, then. Why are NYC's hospitals overwhelmed with this thing? And why are they digging a mass grave? On the other hand, these are the numbers with proper measures being taken (more or less) into account. What would those numbers be if no nation were to take any precautions at all?
