Went to the bank this morning. Of course only one drive up window is open and everything I needed could not be done on the ATM and the ATM is my best friend. So it turns out window opens at 10:00 AM and not 9:00 AM as I thought, when the bank usually opens. OK, 5 cars in front of me and it"s 09:50 AM. Some cars were taking 10 ~15 min? I was like WTF? They taking out a mortgage? Finally an hour later I was done and looking back at the line I should return and start selling ready made dinners, those poor bastards. Fortunately won't have to do that again anytime soon.

The nice lady at the drug store (I love those girls) pulled me aside and told me Thursday morning early they should have toilet paper. I appreciated that, not that I need any but good stuff to know. It pays to always be friendly and courteous to people. Several years ago I was in there on a Sunday and they put out Mother's Day floral arrangements, on a whim I bought all the moms a floral. Blew them away and they have never forgotten, every mother"s day I do it again. :)

Went to the grocery store this morning, the Mexican run one.
There were no paper products again (nuts but also finny).
There was sufficient water this time at least.
No canned ravioli though which is good to keep in stock.
Funny thing is, there were no rav's but there was plenty of canned chili, which tells me nobody likes that stuff. The shelf was packed full as if none at all was bought.

I just got my hand slapped at Costco for trying to buy two packages of butter. One per member! Next!

Wow, when I buy butter I normally buy 6 to 8 one Lb packages because we freeze it. Many small business owners shop COSCO and SAM'S Club and I can see where a small bakery would need much more than that. All of this has gotten crazy out of control. Toilet paper. Let's say my wife and I use 1 roll per day so my weekly supermarket trip is maybe an * Roll Jumbo Pack. All of a sudden I get an opportunity to buy 100 rolls and I buy it. OK, I now have over a 3 month supply which means no matter how much returns to retail shelves I won't be buying any. Then following the shortage created by overbuying there will be a glut. I have seen this nonsense before.

A post that criticized an appointed government official and an elected official in a government has been removed.

It will be difficult for many of us to avoid bringing politics into the discussion but please stick to the topic and try not to give in to the urge to start side discussions of the competence of political figures in our respective countries.
I understand , but when the elected official has denied, and ignored his obligations to the world and his own country shouldn't he be shown for what he is? There is no end of posts in this thread blaming China for doing the same thing he is doing to his own country, but non of those are deleted. That was done by politicians too.

China is a multi-party socialist state under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) without freely elected politicians. China's (the regime, not any specific politician) fault in this global horror surpasses the political blame game.

My father always told me you will attract more flies with honey than vinegar. Being retired I love it as I have time to talk to people and take extra time to thank them. Cashiers, servers, anyone dealing with the public, especially those in retail. Not looking for favors but just to make their day a little better. Those flowers literally blew those girls away. Made their day and cost me what? A few bucks.

On the selfish side, I find that talking to them on a personal level makes MY day a little better, too.

Just got this in an email:

Broward Health is Now Offering COVID-19 Testing
To help ensure the health and wellness of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic, Broward Health is extending mobile, drive-through testing for our community.
Seems like it's open to everyone -- by appointment.

They are doing it here too, with one caveat, a Doctor's referral for testing which means you have met the CDC criteria to be tested. Not just because you want to.
