Yes. Like that meme posted from StarTrek awhile back, the response to SARS-CoV-2 is not explained by good medicine.

 

I can’t find it, but there was a story about a woman who disregarded the law and the sign, who went maskless to pick up a take out pizza order. She went full out <derogatory word deleted> because they wouldn’t serve her. The owners offered to bring her order to her if she went outside, but that didn’t calm her down. She eventually was arrested and spent the night in jail over a pizza. The owner installed a doorbell and won’t open the door if the customers aren’t wearing a mask.

The problem with "that" word is audience. If "K-word" were substituted, some people here might think she was an Eagle user raving about KiCad.

I am absolutely sure the TS didn't mean it as the current definition. As a student, when I moved from SoCal to the East coast, I found some really common words in SoCal discourse were quite offensive to the more refined Easterners. Maybe today, its the other way around.

My start up company was supposed to open December 2020. It ain’t happening. I needed to pump 500 people an hour through 3,600 sq. Ft, And have indoors food service for 100+ people in 2,400 sq. ft.

Nope. The only upside is that we went into lockdown the week before I almost signed a 3 year lease for 10k sq. ft.

I doubt the Yelp data even comes close to the real number of closings and that does not even begin to tell the story for all small businesses that have failed because of the closures.

The real issue here is those making the decisions are relatively unaffected by the whole COVID affair. People set for life with pensions and golden parachutes. America needs to reopen for business. Then we have those benefiting from this entire mess. A mess with exaggerated numbers. Every death certificate hot stamped COVID. Meanwhile people are losing their butts.

As alluded to above, there are always those who abuse programs meant supposedly in good conscience. Take enforced quarantine after exposure. Under CARES and related acts (https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/pandemic/ffcra-employee-paid-leave ), that is paid leave. Some employees are using it as a rotating retirement at full pay.

One of my relatives is in school administration. The school is trying to reopen, but some teachers don't want to do that. So. those teachers are reporting "exposure" every 10 to 14 days, thus extending paid quarantine leave. Apparently, there is no circuit breaker to that provision.

As for allowing businesses to reopen and then closing them again, it is hard to imagine that any thought was given to the dire consequences of doing that. It's as if the government sat on a hill and watched as businesses went under during the first lockdown. It then opens things up only to swoop down to kill off the survivors.
