Hi guys,

I want to install a dual coil latching relay, only problem is the voltage to the coils will not be pulse they would be constant but i also require relay to latch once all power is off.

Is this possible?

The dual coil latching relays are not usually designed to have their coil powered continuously, and will likely overheat if you do so.

Ok thanks, have you any ideas what else i could do, i need to add a relay controlled by 2 seperate switches with constant voltage, yet needs to latch in position once all power is off? Cheers

 

Just use a momentary, spring-return, pushbutton switch to pulse each side of the latching relay.

 

think i found a sloution? As the switch is existing and is required for other purposes, i just want to tap off it

This is what i have found i just need NO/NC contact i have 2 x seperate 12v switch lives to control the coil on the relay but i need latching for when there is no power

 

If you explain exactly what you are trying to do, then perhaps we can suggest the best approach.
Why do you need it latched when power is removed?
