Confused on which ESP to buy..!!

Hello all. I'm planning to buy the esp8266 wifi module but there are a lot of versions out there and i cant decide which one to buy. Also to program the esp I have to buy a usb to TTL converter module and I can't decide which one to buy either, since there are a lot of them as well. I would really like to have some suggestions on this one.

I think i will go with the ESP-12 since it has more gpio and costs roughly around same as ESP-01

I got a couple of those Huzzah ESP8266 modules from Adafruit, along with some ESP-01 modules; I'm eager to start playing with them.

yes.. simple
I'd just like a 1 board solution that I can plug right in and go to town..
Now to just find time between work and my "honey do list".... happy wife..happy life
