Hello, i want to build a class d amplifier from scratch. This amp will be used in an home made portable speaker, so efficiency is key. I'm looking at around 30-40 watts output ( i know that it is overkill for a portable speaker, but the speaker will be quite large and i may use it as a desk speaker sometimes.)
I'm a newbie in electronics, so i need someone to guide me through the process of designing the circuit and the pcb ( i will use easyeda because i don't want to etch my own pcb).
I did some research and found out that i could choose an integrated IC that does all the work or use separate components.
Which one will suit my project the best?
Thanks in advance.

As a newbie, you might consider starting out with one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=tpa3116
Cheap and done.

If you want to roll your own from a class D amplifier IC like the TPA3116, have at it. Pull the datasheets and the manuals for the available evaluation boards from here:
http://www.ti.com/sitesearch/docs/universalsearch.tsp?searchTerm=tpa3116#linkId=1&src=top
I've found that most of the cheapie Chinese units from Amazon conform pretty closely to the evaluation board's circuit for a given amp IC and PC layout for many $$ less than the board from TI. I use one in a home-rolled guitar amp.

A review of the block diagram of the TPA3116 or similar Class D chip will probably dispel any notions of rolling your own instead of using one of those nice ICs.

Have fun!

Edit: @crutschow beat me to it.

Thx for the answers.
Even if i am a newbie, i'd like to build the circuit, even if i don't fully understand it.
I read a bunch of datasheets and i understand most of them. The problrm is that i don't know hot do draw the schematic and how to design the pcb.
By the way which IC is best for newbies?
