circuit diagram + components: for building repeat timer using 555 and 4060 in combination

I am looking to time my 12v / 1.5w device with a 555 and 4060 ic (in combination).

I want my device to be ON for 30 seconds and than turn OFF for 15 minutes.

Are you able to make a circuit diagram for me and make a list of electrical components I need?

Also would would change if my timing would be 1 minute ON and 10 minutes OFF?

Hello,

I have also seen you post at schakelingonline.
You could clock the 4060 with 30 second pulses.
You could decode the wanted timing from the 4060 outputs.

Hi Bertus,

Am I understanding you correctly that the 4060 (without the 555) will do the job?

Since I have no experience in the field of electronics, ic's and so on, this is very new teritorry for me.

Are you able to point me in the right direction with a circuit diagram/ components and such perhaps? -Elias

Hello,

I see that the 4060 is missing some outputs from the divider set:

4040 vs 4060.png

The 4040 has no biuld in oscilator, but has all outputs available.

Thank you for the pointers, that is really helpful.

The timing could as well be 1 minute ON and 6 minutes OFF.

Are guys able to give a bit more info on the components and diagram to make this a scenario as above?

Just curious... after one cycle, does it repeat indefinitely?

Also, to clarify things, you’ve mentioned several cycles. Do you want to implement one of them, or have the device have the capability of doing any of them? Of course, the latter is a bit more complicated.

Suggesting a microprocessor for every problem out there is counter-productive. But perhaps if you have the skills and want many possible cycles, it might apply. First, do you have programming skills?

You are correct, I stick to the 30 seconds ON and 15 minutes OFF cycle

Nope, no programming skills ....

Any help at this stage is more than welcome!

Yes, the first one is my prefered scenario ....

Hello,

You could take the outputs of 3,5,6,7 and 9 of the 4040 and put them into an 4068.
The two remaining inputs of the 4068 must be held high:

You will have two outputs as result.
The timing will be 30 seconds high and 15.5 minutes low, as the complete sequence is 16 seconds.

Am I understanding you correct that I could either use the setup with the 4040 or the 4068?

Do you happen to have a circuit description of either one (and or a parts list)?

Hello,

The 555 and 4040 will give the timings signals.
The 4068 will decode the 30 seconds from the 4040.
