Another problem is that many of these Triac controls are not much better than the simple lamp dimmer version, they often do not include the ferrite suppression choke etc included in the better motor version.

 

I am waiting for a response about how many wires connect to that six speed control device in the wall box. There are some good quality series motor speed control devices marketed.

 

The ones I am familiar with just have 2 in (AC).
