ceiling fan control question

Three of my four fans have wireless remote control. When I control one fan none of the other fans react. They're all the same brand, Hunter, I believe.

I have a remote outlet that is controlled by a FOB. One day I was testing the FOB to see how far away I can still control the outlet. I stood out in the street pushing the button. Unbeknownst to me, I was ringing my neighbor's doorbell which was on the same frequency. First time I pushed the button he went to his door. Nobody was there and figured it was a prank. I pushed it again and he rushed to his door - nobody was there. I kept pressing the button at different distances from my house and he came out with his doorbell in hand. I pushed the button and heard a doorbell. We figured out that when I push the button his doorbell, two houses away, would ring. Yet, my receiver didn't work more than 50 feet away. Weird how his doorbell was probably on the order of 125 feet away and it rang every time I pushed the button.

I'm with the consensus, I don't think it's going to work. If it does - you will be the first I've ever heard about it working. As Ya’akov said, there is a lot more to changing the frequency than just changing the crystal. Even I mentioned C1 & C2. But that shows my limitations in understanding crystals.

Aside from the actual tranmitter frequency there is also ID code between the transmiter and the receiver. BUT those may be hard to change. BUT the transmitter can be adjusted for best performance at the current frequency. THAT requires some method of sensing the transmitted signal level, which is may be a challenge, without the right equipment.

ok thanks i got a reply back from the techs and they seem to think changing the crystal will be fine and i have a 90% chance of it working. they said the boards are the same and they believe they are programmed the same but because some button functions are missing they said those may be in the program and may be out of the program. so again when the crystal arrives i will change it out and see. at this point i have a 50-50 chance it will work. also they said if it works i can use both remotes at the same time and i shouldn't have to do any other programming. but again we will see. thanks.
