Hi Guys,

Hope you all had a great weekend.

I've been busy fitting an aftermarket (Erisin double din) head unit into my 2007 Volvo XC90. This XC90 has a very complicated radio system, where parking sensor, passenger airbags, central locking, interior lights etc all centralised to it. FM/AM radio is with CD unit and audio is passed to amp through optical cables. Therefore both the CD (with radio) and display units must be connected and tucked behind the aftermarket HU, in order to get the parking sensor to work on rear left speaker - meaning, rest of the speakers are disconnected from the amp and wired to the new HU (bypassed). I've taken constant +12v (purple), ignition +12v (purple/w) and ground (brown) from that centralised unit.

Now I have this two issues...:
1. HU does not store settings, ie keeps resetting FM radio and display.
-I think, without drawing from the centralised unit, I would have to give a direct connection from the battery?

2. It turns on itself as soon as the key turned to Acc (position I).
-What turns the stereo on automatically?Where have I gone wrong?

Thanks in advance for your advice :)

Zak

I was thinking on my question 2, it maybe that the power I'm drawing is connected to CAN network and that gets completely shut down when the car is lock by the fob? On that note, should I get a direct line from ignition too?

Can you provide any information on the stereo unit you ate putting in? Make/model etc and the wiring diagram that came with it? It would also help to show where you have hooked into it so that we have a starting point to go from.

It's all sorted :)

The issue was the constant power connection to HU. The car disconnects the constant 12v, 20 or 30mins after locking the car. When ignition on, both connection worked like 'ignition 12v' and that turns on the stereo.

I tried connecting to the thick red wire connected to the amp inside the floor, under drivers seat and it now retains the memory and won't turn on itself.

Thanks guys
