capacitor multiplier question

Is an op-amp voltage follower still a follower if the internal circuitry is FET?
Of course it is, but we are not discussing small signal processing circuits. The "follower" circuit function is independent of any specific component type; it dates back at least to the 20's and has been built with just about everything. I'm not saying a follower circuit can't be built out of FETs, and FET opamps are excellent for some applications. But a power supply capacitance multiplier is not one of them. All of my comments are about the questions in post #1. The three components in that schematic really are the entire circuit, and nothing else will perform as well, with less complexity, with better stability, and with less headroom/dropout voltage, all at the same time.

Well like I said before. The audio community seems to enjoy mosfets better than transistors for multipliers in terms of its "sound". My desire to use a Jfet is basically due to the fact that it's consistently considered even better than Jfets and transistors in the area of "sound". Whether or not that is true with multipliers, who knows. I'd be interesting in knowing how a multiplier affects the sound to begin with.
With the amount of time and money I'm dumping into this project, a little more complexity wouldn't hurt.

But yeah, I'd also like to know why LTspice is showing a Jfet source follower working reverse biased on its own and forward biased in a circuit.
