Hi All-

Doing another part identification. It's a capacitor. Marking on face:

L12
474



obverse face is blank. Capacitor is brown, on crimped leads (through hole). I suspect it's a PET or metalized film. It is 0.47uF, but I don't know what the "L12" is-- is that a Series? -- any idea who made it... Vishay? It is likely obsolete. Any help appreciated, as I'd like to know what voltage it's rated for (AC & DC), and if possible obtain a datasheet...

L12 could be either a batch code or a date code. I doubt it has anything to do with voltage ratings, but I could be wrong...

 

The 474 is the capacitance in pf. That is a 47 with four zeros, 470,000 pf or .47 uF. I see you got that already.
The L12 is some combination of tolerance and temperature coefficient.

Thank you- I'm suspecting you are right about the L-- these are old. Still don't know about the "12" but I know these caps were originally purchased for use in vintage audio electronics in the 50's 60's.
