Can't post images from Google Drive or Google photos to forum

I can't get it to work even after trying EVERy possible setting on google drive/photo (share photo with anyone with link & global public access). It seems to work on some forums better than others though I found something odd. When I add an image if I click the "add image" icon in the tool bar then paste the URL the only thing that shows up in the " " (it adds a space after) and nothing else.

I'd really like to figure this out instead of using ANOTHER service for images as this should be useable for forums I would think.

Yes, and I paste the URL and then in the text box all that shows up would look like this:

There is a space after the ]

just that line. It is doing this on at lest 5 different forums so there is somethign going on and I know they aren't using the same software. Also, I've never seen the space inserted before.

Haha, the " " didn't show up where I put it. It was supposed to look like this - I'll change the bracket so it doesn't think an image is missing and remove it...

{[IMG} URL should be here with the following {/IMG}

What is in red is missing when I add the image

I tried to add this URL to with the image icon in the tool bar and the above is the result

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B58A1dnTN3KgZWpHU2VicXRyQTA/view?usp=sharing

This one should work too

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B58A1dnTN3KgZWpHU2VicXRyQTA

but neither do.

On another site, I was trying to figure this out and I got it to post images, I had to use the URL with the "sharing" on the end of it. The thing is that if I typed out the BB code [ IMG ] and entered the URL, it wouldn't display the image. It would all just show up as text!

OK, here's a test. I can see both those images just fine. Here I'll try to post those 2 URLs.

Confirmed - it doesn't work. No idea why.

Another test:

Crap, that's one of my google images. That's why I use flickr for public images.
That was the error I got with the TS's photo. I can see your photo just fine.

Your photo is at Google photos but the TS's is at Google drive. Is that a clue?

There's something haywire with the TS's photo and/or Google. There are tools available there for embedding, sharing the link, and so on. None seem to work.

Ok, so are you saying that the two URL's I posted don't work when you try to embed them as well? I should have made it clear that I wanted the images to show up in the post, not have to click the link to see it.

I have had success on other sites with the same setting as this image has so I know that it works on some sites.

What is TS's photo?

TS = Thread Starter = you

Right, I can click the link and see the photo, but I cannot get any embedded link to work, to show the linked photo in the post.

Works for me in the edit function but won't display, strange.
Do you mean you see the photo while editing? I don't - I can tell there's a problem before posting.

This site's server would probably have a problem if the URL on Google's server doesn't resolve to a .jpg. I'm guessing that's part of the problem but it's just a guess.

I was just working on another forum trying to see if it would work and tried this photo. I just pasted the links and nothing else, and the one ending in "sharing" came up embedded. Though if I added it through the "add photo" icon in tool bar - it didn't work.
The following are plain text pastes

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B58A1dnTN3Kga3dQeENPdUhac0E/view?usp=sharing

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B58A1dnTN3Kga3dQeENPdUhac0E

These two are by using the toolbar icon - the same order as above

Well, there isn't anything after the {IMG} so we will see

The image is in http://www.online-convert.com/file-format/webp format.
Google Chrome can see them correctly but it looks like the forum software can't handle it internally.

You will need to transform the image format to a compatible type first or download to .jpg or other format.
In every other forum they show up as standard jpg. Are we talking about size, like resolution or byte size maybe? Could it be past a limit? I wanted to avoid some of those issues on these sites like size restrictions for hosting reasons, and use google drive for it.

Well it is a jpg on the drive and my private links show it as a jpg extension. how can you tell it is a different type/format?

I was just trying to get it to post on another forum and I pasted the 2 types of links for one photo (IDK why they have 2 different ones that should be for the same thing). I pasted them in plain text and the URL ending in "sharing" showed upon the screen as embeded without BB code.

That's what it said in the opened 'right clicked' tab with the image on my machine. My google photos don't seem to have a problem being directly posted.
