Thanks for the feedback, much of what I was missing became apparent to me in the middle of the night when I should have been sleeping. I think that I was missing the idea of how I should be thinking of the BMS as pulling down to generate the trigger and that I didn't have that worked out with my improvised transistor inverter. I'll work on it some more this weekend and my CD4049UBE will be here on monday Thanks again, do you get tired of working these things out with us rookies?

One of these references should help.
what is your circuit simulator?
I, and several others on these sites, use the free LTspice simulator form Analog Devices (formerly Linear Technology).
It's one of the best free analog simulators available.
It's learning curve is a little steep, but there are good tutorials available, and numerous example circuits to help you get started.

Hi, finished building the first version of the circuit, and I found that it works as planned except for one detail. I had to add 100k resister between the input and Vcc to get the circuit to pull-up completely. Is there something i missed in the input wiring? 1577208034649.png
