Hi All,

I'm doing a Stock EV conversion on a 1984 Jeep CJ-7.

Here's a picture of where I'm basicly at:

CRAZY fun at every single turn!!

Anyway, working with all things CAN Bus and need to back trace and such. I'm using a Rigol DC1054Z scope.

Can someone walk me through the setup steps for how to best read and decode my CAN BUS?

I'm fairly new to the scope so treat me that way please.

I've got a single network and I made a CAN BUS Hub that's properly terminated (120ohm at both ends) - haven't mounted it yet, it ain't pretty but it works:

Anyway, need to know how to best set up my scope to read and decode all this data.

Thanks - Patrick

Here is CAN LOW and CAN HIGH being monitored on a 100kbps (so 10uS per bit) on a scope. By using MATH and CH1 -CH2 the purple math trace shows you the bits actually being sent. Pic attached. Also if you are just starting out you always need at least two nodes on a CANbus as when a node transmits a message it nears to hear an ACK or it thinks its in error.
