I know that last response was a long time ago, but this is the only thread where I found specific information about the sound volume control units for old Creative Inspire speakers. I found mine (a T7700) and tried to revive it with no success due to heavy oxidation in the potentiometer.
I will try to bypass the control module using the tips kindly shared by @jendkers adding later an on/off switch to the power cable. My sound volume controller is a MZ0005 and I think it uses the same pins than several Creative speakers.
I will report back here the results. Wish me luck!

If the worn out pots are still mounted, just copy the arrangement of the one being replaced.
