I built a simple boost converter for a MPPT controller. MPPT algorithm Only takes care of input voltage and current. Output voltage have no control. Therefore I inserted a separate on off controller to limit the duty cycle when output voltage increases the desired value.
But the problem is, when output limits the voltage, Large spikes of input currents are observed. How can i minimize this.
Can you suggest another method to control output voltage with MPPT algorithm on a boost converter.

On-off control seems like a sensible idea to me, but why a separate controller? If you are implementing an algorithm, then just add the on-off control into the algorithm.
How about posting your circuit, so we can perhaps see what is going on?
