Most science stories and articles are just filler material anymore. But some stories are very exciting and have interesting revelations. We do live in fast times. This reminds me of the story a few years back about the number of life forms on this planet. And the huge expansion of the life tree.
A huge mass of lifeforms that feed on virus and bacteria. A whole new world of very small life forms. Estimated to be a large proportion of this planet's biomass. Not even clearly defined yet. I personally think there will be a least one more small scale world of life.
This and the nitrogen cycle discovery.....change the fundamental understandings of many things.
I have heard a theory where plants don't live off of soil....they live off of waste products from bacteria in the soil. What part do the grazers of bacteria play? Do they/can they enhance the waste products?
I figure that this planet is saturated with water. So much so that it puddles on the surface. The deeper we drill, the hotter and more pressure we have.
Even when encrusted in ice for eons......there was much life and growth on this planet. We can not even inventory carbon. We haven't a clue to the carbon cycle. But some think they do.
