I have one suggestion. Print it as mirror image so that the printing is on the bottom side and protected from scratches and abrasions.

That is similar to the reverse engraved lamacoid in post #2, the engraved surface does not rub off or any grooves to fill in with grease etc.

I had tried the reverse application, but did not like the appearance with the 3M 77.
