I suppose some do not trust CDC or did not bother to check. That looks very different from data i have seen. Thanks for that, will check it later

Meanwhile in Ottawa emergency is declared. They want protesters gone by "any means necessary..."
So they tried making it illegal to provide food, water fuel or anything else to protesters. Also they wanted refueling using portable or mobile containers to be illegal. But the justice watch warned police that such enforcement would be illegal.

The Canadian protest was started by the 10% of truckers who are antivax and are not allowed to cross the border from Canada to the USA. They are also not allowed to cross the border from USA to Canada. Both countries are blocking them so why are they protesting here?

Many of the protesters in Canada are antivax American truckers who are not allowed to go home. Many protesters are fired from their jobs because they are not vaccinated and their employer legally does not want them there. So they formed the protest group who party and cause trouble instead of being vaccinated and working normally like everybody else.

of course protesters are loud, annoying and causing inconvenience. they are trying to get attention. but as long as they stick to what is lawful, can't really do much. perhaps someone should try negotiating, how about some pressure on PM to meet them?

if there is illegal activity, why police is not intervening?

btw i don't see Antifa activists being greeted by Canadian citizens, offered food and drinks. the Antifa etc. are the true troublemakers. David Zegarac for example used his vehicle to assault several people. as long as media is demonizing working class lawful citizens and protecting hooligans, there is no reason for protesters to stop what they are doing. can't really blame them. I am out of province doing job but would love to be back and see the protests myself.

EDIT

We may not agree on everything but I can only agree that things are better when people are doing their work.
But this applies to everyone, truckers, leaders, police...
They all have job and need to do it competently or should admit when they make mistake or should be replaced.
Politician that does not want to meet his base and talk to them does not deserve to be in politics.
Police that does not enforce laws is not police we want.
News organization that do not report news and fail to do so without bias shall be defunded.
Same goes for healthcare leaders that created plan to get us through this. Since they don't admit they were wrong, it is time to replace them because this clearly is not working. And get someone that can stick to the plan and communicate. not this nonsense: need mask, must have mask, make that two masks, masks work, masks don't work, they work in certain setting and conditions, no they are ineffective, could work if.... or vaccines work, don't work, need second dose, only two dose means fully vaccinated, still not enough need 3rd and maybe 4-th dose, need new dose every 3 months for life. vaccines are safe but we cannot release the documents for 75 years, or maybe 54 years... they work.. they don't work for young, young people are at risk and should not do sports, nonono everyone is safe, vaccines they only work for old people, everyone admitted to hospital is Covid case if they test for Covid, nonon - only people admitted because of Covid are Covid cases....and the list goes on and on....

protesters (what ever their motive is) just happen to be the first group that actually express what many are thinking. i am pretty sure this was inevitable, truckers just seem to be the first to react.

i don't mind that group of people is exercising their right to peacefully protest. we have a bigger problem and people who are supposed to be working on it and are failing to show results, explanation, better plan or accountability. problem is not with truckers, it is higher up.

I am told from people in Ottawa everything is very peaceful. Today was "bring a jerry can to downtown day" as it apparently is now illegal to supply gas and food to the "aggitators"...

Honking in downtown Ottawa was made illegal also today (10 day injunction)...

Prime Minister is still MIA and mostly busy calling canadians bad names. Unfortunately I witnessed results of this rhetoric at work today at lunchroom, it was deeply disturbing.

We are yet to see the aftermath of this. Many people have unfortunately fell for this ultimate divide and conquer tactic.

if it is true that many protesters are not Canadian but people from other countries, it should be easy to verify. License plates are on every truck, they are not moving and everyone has phone with camera and access to internet. that sounds like more of government-run media BS which is why i would like to be there myself. btw. not impressed with PM at all.

some call it "rules for thee, not for me"

how can government engage in distribution of illegal substances to drug abusers on taxpayers dime using police force to curb the competition:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...rack-pipes-addicts-improve-racial-equity.html

next thing is to give guns to bank robbers and mass murderers. maybe legislate that only state is authorized to sell weapons to prisoners. easy way to dominate the market.

How can they make containers of gasoline illegal? I think Canada is not a country in which police are allowed to make up laws.
A statement was made that anyone offering "material support" to the truckers can be arrested. No laws were cited. This is why the people have reacted by basically trolling the police showing up downtown Ottawa with jerry cans...

Our minority government has no opposition and had been making up laws for awhile now.

Probably the most reasonable report on what is going on that I have read (I am not in Ottawa, but have been trying to piece things together) and it is from India...

imagine walking down the street and decide to hand someone a sandwich, bottle of water, or cigarette or band-aid or pen or newspaper and you get arrested. that's the way city council and police in Ottawa reason.... or get back to work and keep your mouth shut. stop asking what you are being injected with, how many more times you have to take it and when you can step out of home or truck.

I would give You Links to extremely accurate and current on goings in Canada,
but I'd probably be banned from this Thread too.
Beside that, it's coming from a source that everyone here just could not wrap their head around ............
.......... but at least it's coming directly from Canada.

The benefits of universal masking in schools remain unclear. Studies — in Florida and in England, for example — tend to find little effect on caseloads. One study that did find an effect has been largely debunked.
Some experts still favor masks in schools, saying they likely have an effect, even if few studies have yet shown it. A lot of other evidence suggests masking matters. Until the Omicron wave ends and both hospitalizations and deaths fall much further, masks should stay on, these experts say.
Other experts believe mandated school masking is almost worthless. “It doesn’t work,” Michael Osterholm, a University of Minnesota epidemiologist, told me. Among the reasons: Medical masks are designed for adults, not children, Osterholm notes. Even masks designed for children slip off their faces. Children take off their masks to eat. Add in Omicron’s intense contagiousness, and the benefits of mandates may be tiny.

But the Arizona study at the center of the CDC’s back-to-school blitz turns out to have been profoundly misleading. “You can’t learn anything about the effects of school mask mandates from this study,” Jonathan Ketcham, a public-health economist at Arizona State University, told me. His view echoed the assessment of eight other experts who reviewed the research, and with whom I spoke for this article. Masks may well help prevent the spread of COVID, some of these experts told me, and there may well be contexts in which they should be required in schools. But the data being touted by the CDC—which showed a dramatic more-than-tripling of risk for unmasked students—ought to be excluded from this debate. The Arizona study’s lead authors stand by their work, and so does the CDC. But the critics were forthright in their harsh assessments. Noah Haber, an interdisciplinary scientist and a co-author of a systematic review of COVID-19 mitigation policies, called the research “so unreliable that it probably should not have been entered into the public discourse.”

This is not the only study cited by Walensky in support of masking students, but it’s among the most important, having been deployed repeatedly to justify a policy affecting millions of children—and having been widely covered in the press. The agency’s decision to trumpet the study’s dubious findings, and subsequent lack of transparency, raise questions about its commitment to science-guided policy.

I agree on the anarchy on both sides comment. Based on what I have been able to gather from various accounts truckers are behaving better than the politicians. I feel for the people living in Ottawa and other bigger cities, but thats what happens.

A 20 year-old man from Akron, Ohio, is facing potential swatting-related charges after calling in a bomb threat to police in the wrong Ottawa.

The individual — whose name has not yet been released — only realized he reached police in the wrong Ottawa on Monday after calling a second time to claim he had been shot, according to Ohio's Putnam County Sheriff's Office Captain Brad Brubaker.

"As soon as the dispatcher advised him he called Ohio … he said, 'Wait, wait, I'm not shot,'" Brubaker told CBC News.

Swatting refers to prank calls to emergency services claiming life-threatening situations to trigger an armed police response to a specific location.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is located in Ottawa, Ohio, which sits about 950 kilometres southwest of Ottawa, Canada's capital city.
