I have seen many airplane "vapour trails" and even one of my RC airplanes made them one humid morning. An airplane up high in very cold air produces white frozen "contrails".
But recently I actually saw a Boeing 777 engine produce a bright orange burst of fire that was common for them, caused by "compressor stall" and a moment of not enough air and too much fuel.
