I feel the need to mention a bit of a warning. At one time I had access to an old 1970's garden tractor with a tiller attachment and while it was very handy it was a bit dangerous. In hard ground or areas that had large weeds or grass growing it would catch them and push the whole thing forward. Since it was physically attached all it did was push in a straight line until you were able to raise it up with the hydraulics. I'm thinking some wheel weights would have helped along with maybe additional weight to keep the rear tires planted on the ground.
I don't know how a pull behind would handle that sort of situation. I'm going to imagine if the towing unit is too light it could push it sideways or otherwise create a bit of trouble.
Thanks. Got it; it's motorized ! I was guessing the pulled behind wheels turning would impart/engage rotation to the tines. Will visit plan B then... dragging a heavy enough plate with a few spikes under. May need several passes, will see.
You directed me to better search ways.
Seems a term can be soil ripper, it is for a humble vegetable garden.
I have a smooth wheel disc myself and it will loosen up the top pretty good and take out lights weeds. I'm going to imagine the notched disc is going to be a bit more aggressive as they seem to be used in more heavy duty farm equipment I see in my area. I can't say for sure though.
Thanks. The last link has to be also for a grown-up puller, not for my wimpy riding mower. If I find a single disc attachment it mat be worth trying. Plan C directs me now to consider something like this :
Plan D tells me to forget the riding mower and attach plan C to my LandRover hitch Will see...
